me

Among the few things I have learnt about myself, and am constantly reminded of, is that I can't lie! I am just so bad at it that I can't even give it a try. What causes trouble is that I can't believe others might lie and I can't accept people's mistrust. I understand logically that someone may mislead you, but to actually think that someone might lie, it just doesn't come. See now, that is a problem!

I think this is a very good and natural quality in you. Not to lie and not to tolerate it from others.

I hope you don't get disappointed about people soon, because I think there are not many people who share this quality.

you can say that again and again and again for me!
I hate people who lie, cheat, are dishonest in their tax file, in their immigration interview, in their refugee stat court, in their divorce settlement, in their job interviews, in achieving their goals, ... you name it!!
That's one thing I have as pride in me... to be honest and not to lie! other things come after.
Thank you for having great strong values! that's not so common these days! :)
Hugs,

This still engaged my mind that do we have absloute honesty? I guess it is possible to be externally honest to some extent but I belive that there are rare people who are also honest to themselve or lets call it internally honest..sometimes we look at the events in the past and justify things using mind and constantly lie (by diffrent extents)..In this cases mind tries to deceive the soul while it finally fails. I belive that absloutly honest people are in peace with themselve and the environment and they give this sense of peace to others too. They are cool. So, I really do n't think I am one of them and its a long time I have n't seen one. We are liers to some extent.

i will have to disagree with you on that. i think people lie in order to assume they have achieved what they would have wanted, if you believe in yourself there is no need to lie to yourself or to others ...

Thats the point! we say internal lies to ourselve because we "so much" believe in ourselve..we want to see things the way that strengthens this sense so, we lie. Most humans do this. I do it and Whoever is not in true peace with the "self" and world does it. Lieing to others is something else in nature, that is not advised in most moral systems and even (in legal cases) punished in modern societies. Thats something in relation "to others" while the first one is related to one of part of me to the other.

let's suppose you lie to yourself, isn't there something at the back of your mind saying "that's a lie"? i mean, lieing to others is condemed because they might not know the truth but you yourself know the reality, right? and even if you mislead yourself for a while, you'll probably get to a point where you realize you're too far from reality and it's time to give up ...

Not necessarily! This is not "that's a lie" kind of thing. We have made a picture of our”self” that makes mind to see the past events the way that pleases it, and mind works empirically. It sees wrong so it interprets wrong. This picture is not necessarily pleasing to the soul. and we do get to the points (as you also mentioned) that we realize there is something wrong.. we are not happy, we are not living in peace or reality as you said there is a conflict between that picture and the reality! so, again to relieve the problem for a while we stick to the regular dishonest mind tricks.. my point is that I am not truly honest to myself(to some extent) otherwise I should have been in a more happiness and peace. Are you in peace? Hope that you are.
I think you are true about capital punishment. Human life is so valuable.

same here, but I think what you talk about it is not a moral virtue. It is a kind of incapability,
